We had a lot of fun celebrating Halloween this year! My kids are just the right ages to really appreciate holidays and I absolutely love watching the fun and joy the holidays bring them.
We had three witches and a black cat this year.
Oliver didn't love his costume at first 😂 he was especially mad when we put the face paint on him the first time (we did it a few different days and the other times he didn't mind as much).
Oliver loved his sister's wands!
I loved all their poses 💗 I will do hard costumes (hard to get on or hard to make/find) but I loved how simple their costumes were this year.
The first activity we did was a week before Halloween at the library. They always do a Halloween activity where the kids can trick-or-treat through the museum and the city building. It's always really fun (and we get to see Ben's aunt). This year, the library also had some other activities, which were all super fun.
The girls loved the activities and they also got to see their special librarian friend. We see her each week at story time and the kids just adore her.
Ashtyn had her golden ticket date that night, so Parker and Rylee snuggled up on the couch together to eat their candy and watch Halloween shows.
The next activity we did was the day before Halloween. Makenzie and I decided to do a Halloween party together for the kids!
We love Auntie Hannah!
We did bobbing for apples, which Parker was really excited for! Rylee didn't want to.
We did a lot of fun activities with the kids. Most of the older kids loved the hanging donut game, but Rylee was pretty upset because of how hard it was to bite the donut. After just a minute, we let Rylee and Navy use their hands to get the donut.
It was hilarious to watch them play. Afterwards, we did musical chairs and a balloon popping day.
Halloween morning, Ben needed to record for a course he's making, so the kids and I went upstairs to give him some quiet. While we were up there, I did face painting for the girls and painted their nails.
Rylee originally wanted a witch on her face, but I was worried about my artistic skills. Then she decided she wanted three jack-o-lanterns, which I was much more confident I could actually do.
Parker wanted a spiderweb with two spiders, and then after Ashtyn asked for it, a witch wart on her nose.
Ashtyn decided she also wanted a spiderweb, but because of her bangs, we had to do it a little differently. Then she wanted a black widow, complete with a red dot.
First stop of the night was to trick-or-treat Grandma Leah's house. She had balloons in the bags and Oliver loved it more than the candy (he loves balloons). The girls' favorite was the flashlight she gave each of them.
Then we did dinner with cousins/friends! We always do a pumpkin pizza and taco soup. We also had some leftovers from the Halloween party.
The trick-or-treating crew! We love trick-or-treating on our street. Oliver stayed home with Ben this year to hand out candy while I took the girls door to door. The girls had a blast and Oliver thought it was great to open and close our front door for people.
Rylee loves trick-or-treating!
It sure wore out Oliver! He also had a bit of a rough night, so he was sleepy the next day.
After trick-or-treating, we went to Ben's parent's house and then brought the kids home to go to bed. Before bed, they picked out a bag of their favorite candy and we left the rest for the Switch Witch. The Switch Witch brought Kinetic Sand and the kids loved it so much that it took them several hours to even remember they had candy.
I loved the tradition. The kids still got quite a bit of candy to eat, but it was gone within a couple days and the kids still got to have a lot of fun with all the Halloween activities. Plus, they have spent hours and hours and hours playing with the sand!
We had such a great Halloween 💗
