Our September Family Memories - Fall is finally here!

We had such a wonderful September! I love that the weather cooled down just enough that we could spend a lot of time outside. We also had a great time doing school stuff together and I got to read a lot and work on my bullet journal a lot (I'll have to do a separate post about that).

The library in Vernal is amazing! We love going to story time there and Oliver just loves the library! He also thinks he is a big boy and loves to sit on the kid chairs they have there.

Clapping with the songs!

Rylee loves the library too!

Oliver napping is my favorite thing to see 😍

Rylee dressed herself. Can you tell?

Snuggling with Parker 💗

One of my favorite parts of homeschooling are the slow mornings we get to enjoy together. As it has started cooling off, the girls often come down and wrap up in a blanky to talk with me or read/look at a book.

Poor little Oliver got a lot of teeth in September. It's adorable, but not very fun until they come in!

Their favorite thing to play with (it's given us lots of Christmas ideas haha)

Parker also lost her first two teeth! Both were shark teeth, with the grownup tooth coming in behind the baby tooth before she lost it. This first tooth hung on for a long time, so we were all really excited for her to lose it!

Ever since going to Lagoon in August, the girls have started making Roller Coaster rides for Oliver out of our clothes baskets. They push him (and each other around) and say, "Please keep your hands and feet in the ride until it comes to a complete stop."

Oliver thinks he is a big boy. Since the beginning of September, he went from standing and taking steps to walking. He needs to quit growing up so fast, but I absolutely love watching him walk around.

These were some of Oliver's first steps.

This first day, we would hold something out to him to encourage him to take steps. It didn't take long for him to decide to just start walking on his own.

He would fall a lot, but now he walks all over the place. It's amazing to look back on the beginning of the month versus the end. They learn so much so quickly at this age!

One night, we wanted a treat, so we decided to use our leftover chocolate chips and butterscotch chips and add them to our vanilla ice cream recipe. It was pretty yummy, though I think the girls liked it more than Ben and I did.

Ashtyn reading to her sisters 💗

Baby yoga during dinner 😂

We made a pay off the house jar! We are super close (compared to how much we've paid for the house) and we want to pay it off in the next few months. Ben is working really hard to make a bunch of extra money, we've tightened up our budget a bunch, and we're selling anything we can think of (though we honestly don't have a lot of stuff worth a lot hahaha). We did the jar more as a way to hype ourselves up for it and to give the girls a visual representation of what we're doing. I think it's working. Rylee found a dime and was super excited to put it in the jar, telling me, "Now we can pay off the house faster!" Parker is also sweet, she wanted to put her tooth fairy money in the jar (I talked her into putting it in her piggy bank). Ashtyn is learning about opportunity cost, telling me she wants to make the decorations for her birthday party instead of buying them, so that we can put that money towards the house. They are so excited about it (it also helps that they know we get to plan a trip to Disneyland after the house is paid off 😂).

The day we made the jar, both Ben and I wanted to buy pizza for dinner, but because of the jar we were motivated to make homemade pizza instead. Every dollar counts right now! And I made a pizza with chicken, peppers, tomatoes, olives, pepperoni, and mushrooms for Ben and he loved it (which normally homemade pizza isn't his favorite) so it was a huge win!

For Halloween, the girls are going to be witches and Oliver is going to be a black cat. One Sunday afternoon, we walked out to the creek at Ben's parents' house and looked for sticks to make wands and brooms.

The girls had a blast and we found some really good ones!

Oliver had a blast too, eating the dirt. Then he signed "all done" when he wanted to go back inside 😁

This is Oliver running away because I needed to change his diaper 😂

Oliver loves to dance 💗

He is so cute!

I love watching him play.

He wanted me to put it on his head and then he would walk around balancing it on his head until it fell down. And repeat.

Oliver's laugh is the cutest thing!

I saw an activity online about tracing the kid and then letting them draw it into a scarecrow. Ashtyn and Rylee had a lot of fun with it.

Parker struggled a little more with it. She was mad at how her silhouette turned out, so she drew x' and an ugly mouth on hers.

After I got her to talk to me about what was wrong, she told me she didn't like the feet. We tried again and she liked it a lot more.

Rylee wanted hers to be a "creepy" scarecrow.

Ashtyn's finished product!

Then Parker drew a mask on hers ... and got mad because it had a mask.
I told her we couldn't try again, and she could choose to finish hers or not.

It took a few hours, but she eventually decided to finish it and turn it into a "Mistborn".

Then they cut them out and played with them until I got tired of having them around.
They didn't really look much like scarecrows, but the important thing is the kids had fun (which they did, even Parker).

Parker and Ashtyn got in a fight, so Parker wrote Ashtyn a note to say I'm sorry 💗

Oliver eating some fruit dip!

Snuggles with Rylee 💗

Parker loves Ritz crackers and so does Oliver.

When cousins were here in August, they found some Monarch caterpillars and they went from Chrysalis to butterflies at Grandma Lindi's house! During piano lessons, the girls got to help let them go, which was so fun for them.

Since Oliver's birthday (on September 2), Rylee would come down every day and ask if it was Halloween today. And every day, when the answer was no, it was a tragedy. Finally, I helped her make this countdown chain so she could see how far away Halloween was. It turned out really cute and has worked wonders!

They wanted a picture of them kissing the pumpkins 😂

My fall decorations 🍁

Oliver has learned how to push this basket over to things so he can reach higher (he also has now learned to get up on the couch without the basket).

Sleeping on Mom 💗

One rainy afternoon, we watched the Nancy Drew movie together. The girls really liked it, which made me really happy. I love that movie.

One Sunday afternoon, we went and did a hike at Redfleet with Chris and Ashley. It was more doable than it would have been a few weeks earlier, but it was still a pretty hot hike.

The hike takes you down behind Redfleet to the lake and has dinosaur tracks to find, which is really fun.
It was a long, hot hike, but the kids were troopers! Even Rylee walked the entire way on her own.

As we started back, Rylee was having such a hard time because she was tired and hot. I told her about how hard things are good for us, because they make our bodies stronger. She was so excited and sang like this the entire way back!

We also caught this tiny lizard. It was so tiny and cute.
Ashtyn really wanted to hold it, but it got away as she was trying to, which was pretty sad for her.

Rice Krispie treats for Rice Krispie Treat Day!

On National Talk Like a Pirate Day, we did some Pirate activities for homeschool and learned about pirates.

One evening we went out in the garden at Ben's parents' house and helped them dig potatoes.

I love evenings like this one 💗

This is why we don't keep markers at our house anymore ...

More teeth! He gets pretty mom clingy 💗

Our neighbor's cat loves our house and the attention our kids give it. It sits at our back door every morning just watching the girls 😂

So cute!

For the monthly Super Smash Bros tournament that Ben runs locally, this month they did a teams tournament. I was going to enter with Ben, but someone else ended up teaming with him. We did talk his cousins into coming though and Dalin teamed up with Ashtyn. Ashtyn and Dalin got 7th out of ten teams and had a ton of fun together. We sure love Uncle Dalin!

On a YouTube channel that teaches about Come Follow Me, they have a lady who teaches rock art. Ashtyn has started her own rock collection and loves to make rock art now.

Ashtyn loves building towers and then take slow motion videos of them breaking!

Our morning walks are my favorite!

A snake Ben saw on one of his walks! He had to take a video to show the girls.

One of my favorite things is letting the girls paint outside. It really helps minimize the mess and they have a ton of fun! We printed off and cut out these leaves and then I gave them Q-tips to paint with.

We also did a fire at Danny and Lindi's a last time before it gets too cold. The girls love doing hot dogs and s'mores and Oliver thought s'mores were pretty great. The second picture is him signing food, as a way to ask for more.

The finished leaves!

Rylee and Parker dancing together. They were playing Jasmine and Jafaar get married in the temple, and this was their wedding dance afterwards.

I love watching my kids learn and grow! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people and especially for the family Ben and I have created 💗
