Holly Days 2024!

One of the kids' favorite traditions to start off the holiday season is Holly Days--a free local event that Vernal City puts on each year downtown. It's a lot of fun! We like to go for a few hours in the middle of the day when it's warmest.

We started by getting in line for a horse-pulled carriage ride. It was a little bit of bad timing, because right after we got in line, they had the horses take a little break. It was pretty chilly, but it wasn't too bad (last year, it was SO cold). The kids all had fun on the carriage ride.

After the carriage ride, the girls got on this jumping ride that was right by it. They had a blast!

Then we went into the heritage museum to see the gingerbread house contest and warm up a bit. The kids all loved seeing all the houses, but Parker especially loved it. I loved the warming up part XD

Outside the museum, there were two different giant bounce house slides. The kids had a ton of fun there, wanting to stay long past when I was ready. Oliver was a little hesitant at first, but once he did it once, he loved going again and again. The biggest thing for him to get past was all the other kids going up the ladder with him.

Once I tore the kids away from the bounce houses, we walked over and got treats. They have cotton candy, hot chocolate, and popcorn. While there, we saw Grandpa Danny, who was working at the popcorn machine. Oliver especially loved seeing him. We also ran into some friends of ours, which was fun.

I was about ready to go, but the kids weren't so we did one last activity--riding ponies. The kids wanted to do the zipline as well, but the line was really long and they could only do two people at a time, so I could tell it was going to take a long time.

I let the kids get one last treat and then we went home.

By the time we got back to the car, the kids were cold and ready to go home.

We needed to get home, so we didn't go to Trees for Charity until the next afternoon, which I actually liked. I love taking the kids to the Trees for Charity. They love seeing the different decorated trees, but they also love hearing about all the people the trees are helping and love to give some of their own money to help them. I love the way it helps them see that others have needs and gives them a chance to give at Christmastime. It really starts the season off the right way.

We love the traditions of Holly Days and are so grateful to live in such a fun community!
