My 2023 Bookish Bullet Journal

Every year, I do a bullet journal for all my bookish lists--reading, writing, my YouTube/Instagram channel. I also made a video walking through pages. This year, I focused more on writing than social media. I also tried a few more "artsy" pages and I'm really happy with how my spreads turned out.

A notes page for ideas on how to improve or change the spreads in my 2024 bullet journal

A 2024 calendar overview spread
Each month has a coordinating color, and this page is a bit of a key for that. As I write down stats or record the books I finished, I use the month's coordinating colors.

A spread to write down goals in the four different life areas.

My book log spread
It includes many blank pages, where I can keep track of the page number, book title, author, how many stars I rated it, and the date I finished the book.

The left is a spread where I can write down my stats numbers (I use tally marks on my stats page as I finish books) at the end of each month.

The page on the right is a visual representation of how many books I've read.

This is my reading stats spread

The spread on the left is a place where I pick my three favorite books at the end of each month. This helps me to narrow down my top favorite books at the end of the year.

The page on the left is a new spread, for me to write down my favorite books of 2023.

The left is my 2023 TBR. My TBR on Goodreads has way too many books on it, so this is a way for me to try to prioritize certain books. I added sections this year to easily see what genre and age category each book is, because I try to put a wide variety on my list.

The right is a list of classics that I want to read. The left column is new classics, and the right column is classics.  I would like to reread. I usually read between 6 and 12 classics a year, so this isn't a TBR, but a way for me to keep track of classics I can choose from.

The left is a list of books I want to reread. Again, this is a list for me to choose which books I want to reread, and to help me keep track of them for future years. The right where I pick which book I want to reread each month during the year. It's a sun and I can color in each ray as I reread the book.

This is my series spread. I have four different sections: series I am in the middle of, series I've started and am unsure if I want to finish but also am not ready to forget them, series I have started that have unreleased books (and therefore I can't finish them yet), and series I want to read that I haven't started yet. The squares that are blue are the books I've already read.

The spread on the left is my New Releases spread. I include books released within the last year, so any books released in 2022 or 2023. Last year, I had two pages for this spread, and I'm worried about running out of room this year. In the future, I will keep it at two pages.

The one on the right is called Comics, but I include any graphic novels, including Manga and comic books. I was really happy with how the icons turned out.

This is my read aloud spread. The first twelve are the ones I want to prioritize each month with the kids, but we always end up reading more than 12. I read aloud out of one book at bedtime, and we also have a family audiobook we're always in the middle of. Sometimes, we get through more than one book a month in either of those ways each month as well.

This is my "read soon" page. This is for books that didn't quite make my 2023 TBR list, but also are ones that I don't want to get lost in my Goodreads list. This is a helpful list for times like when Amazon has .99 eBook deals.

The left spread is my Agatha Christie spread. I participate in the Agatha Christie Reading Challenge every year, reading one of her books a month, and I love it. I really liked how the spread turned out.

The right spread is authors I would like to read more of their books (but I'm not ready to commit to reading all of them). This spread doesn't fit on one page, but I didn't plan for that, so the rest of it is later in the bullet journal.

This is my spread for authors that I want to read all their books. The ones marked in purple are the books I've already read by them.

The spread on the right is my "author collection", or authors who I've read all their books. If they have new releases during the year that I read, then I can put a dot underneath their name. I don't love how this spread turned out and will probably do something different with it next year.

This is my spread for the Middle Grade March readathon and the Jane Austen readathon. Each year, they announce different challenges for them on YouTube and I always enjoy participating, even if it's only with a couple of books.

These are my favorite readathons in September. I also have a couple of blank pages following these, in case there are any other readathons I want to do throughout the year.

The left spread is a page for the Nonfiction November readathon. The left is the start of my Nonfiction TBR lists.

The nonfiction TBR is all the nonfiction books I want to read, organized by category.

This is my library catalogue spread. I can keep track of all the books I get from the library, when (and if) I read them and return them, when they are due, and also what format they are in.

The left is the continuation of my "more authors" page. It doesn't fit in with this section well, but it was the page that was blank.

The right is a page for me to track any books that I unhaul.

This is my spread to record books I buy. I write the book name in the bubble of the color of the month I buy it.

The left spread is for recording any children's books I buy. The left is for any books I gift to people (I like to gift at least one book to someone a month).

The left is a new spread I'm trying. It's a book bracket, that helps to eliminate the books I've read down to my top favorite of the year. If I like it and use it again, I'll move it to be by the other "favorite book" spreads.

The spread on the right is a stats page for buying/donating books. It's new and I'm excited for it.

These are my bookshelves where I list books I have read that I want to buy. The blank books at the end are places for me to put books that I haven't read that I buy. The square on the right is a place for me to keep track of how much I have budgeted to spend on books (the top section) versus how much I actually spent (the bottom section) each month.

This is my cover page for movies. I haven't ever had any spreads for movies before, so all these pages are new.

Because we're planning a trip to Disneyland as a family this year, we are going to be watching a lot of Disney movies in preparation. I don't know that we will watch all of these, but it will be s good list to work off of.

The left is a spread for Ben and I to use as we search for movies to watch together. One method we use to find movies to watch is to start with a favorite author and find other movies that actor is in.

The spread on the right is for me to put down rom coms I can rope Ben into watching with me 😁

These are my holiday movie spreads. I love the holidays and holiday movies.

The spread on the left is a place to write down some movies we loved watching as a family. This is a way for me to keep track of movies we might want to watch again at a later date.

The right spread is my "writing section" cover page.

The left spread is a place for me to keep track of some writing goals each week. The right is a page for me to record any notes as I watch lectures or read books on writing.

This is a place for me to track some activities that I'm not sure how frequently I want to do them. As I do them, I can fill in a square and easily see how frequent each activity is.

The left spread is a place for me to record any ideas I have for each category.

The right holds writing notes I want to keep from past bullet journals.

This is my daily writing streak page. As long as I'm making progress on my goal of publication (even if it's very small progress), it counts towards my daily habit.

This is a place for me to keep track of the progress on my various writing projects.

This is a spread for quarterly goals. I've never used quarterly goals before, so I'm trying it out. I have a few different goal pages and I'll see which I like most this year and have less next year.

I am tentatively planning on doing Nanowrimo (where you write a 50,000 word book in a month) and so this is a preptober spread.

And my nanowrimo spread!

This quote page is for quotes that I love from books I've read during the year.

And my yearly stats spread
I use my monthly stats to fill this out at the end of the year.

The left spread is my original page for goals (although I used to have two pages for it). I may not include it next year.

The right is a cover page for my monthly calendar spreads.

I have a four page spread for each month. The left is new and is a way for me to refocus each month.

The right is a calendar, where I can write down things like YouTube videos and Instagram posts.

The left here is my monthly TBR page. The top ten books are my main TBR and the five lines under it are books I'd like to get to if I have extra time.

The right is where I write down any books I own that I haven't read. I love using this page.

And that's my bullet journal! I am excited for the new year and my new spreads.
