Our NOVEMBER Family Fun - Holidays and Sickness!

We have had so much fun in November, in between being sick a bunch. This year seems to be especially bad for just constantly being sick for a lot of people and we are no exception. I am so grateful both for the time we get to spend together even when sick and for the fun moments between the sick!

At the beginning of November, we put up this paper tree and each day, every person in our family (except Oliver) put a leaf on the tree, with something they were grateful for. The kids love watching the leaves "sprout" on the tree and it's a great way for us to keep gratitude a focus during the month.

This was the tree when we were finished. We truly have so much to be grateful for!

Ashtyn's main goal for the school year is to learn to type, but with having Oliver right at the start of the school year, we only just started her on a program this month. It's called Mickey's Typing Adventure and she loves it. I like it too, I think it does a good job of teaching kids to type while also making it fun.

Ashtyn has learned home row and while making games with Ben, she is already seeing the benefits of learning to type.

I bought all our Christmas presents in November to get them wrapped and ready before December. Ben kept teasing me as we got piles of packages 😁

For a date, Ben and I went out clothes shopping and Ben found these at DI. They were size 30 waist. Whoever wore them must have been soooo tall and skinny 😳

Oliver was my presents wrapping buddy and he was so cute. He stayed happy the whole time and kept distracting me, because every time I would look at him, he would smile. He loved the Christmas music too!

One of the things we did for homeschool was make butter. I added salt since we buy salted butter, but I added too much and it ended up being very salty butter. But the kids liked it!

One of the kids' favorite science activities every year is "dancing popcorn". You use baking soda and vinegar to make the popcorn kernels move up and down in the water. The kids always think it's so funny.

We also did a salt and popcorn experiment, where the popcorn and salt separate as you shake the bottle.

The kids also loved their toilet paper roll turkeys!

This was a gratitude game we played with skittles. Each color of skittle was assigned a different category (a place you are grateful for, a person you are grateful for, etc.).

And little Oliver, hanging out with us while we played 💓

This was a science experiment where we dissolved candy corn in different liquids and watched to see which one dissolved them fastest. And then Parker decided to draw each of the cups on a paper.

These were all our turkey crafts we did!

After watching Mulan, Parker has been writing in "Chinese".

Ben all dressed up for Oliver's blessing 😍

We had such a beautiful day with family for Oliver's blessing.

My mom and brother were able to come out for the blessing and it was so nice to see them again! It really meant a lot to me that they would come.

The cutest little boy!

Cousin Navy kissing him!

Some more cute pictures of Oliver.

Baby stretches!

Ready for church!

Trying to get my writing in when Oliver won't nap.

What about second breakfast?

Tummy time up high on mom!

Superman!

That smile though 😍

So sleepy!

The girls love putting on their aprons to help Mom in the kitchen!

Reading to Oliver 💓

The triforce (from Zelda)

Our house perpetually looks this way now haha

Ashtyn has started sorting laundry and she loves it lol

Every binky in the house now belongs to Rylee (since Oliver won't take them anyway)

Parker "reading" to Spiderman.

We got a new mattress for Oliver (the other one was Makenzie's).
Rylee tried to claim it for her own, but we need it for Oliver's sleep too much.

Sisters snuggling to watch a movie 💓

Parker "reading" to Oliver.

The things kids do 😂

Morning snuggles 💓

Ashtyn is growing up too fast!

Parker drew this picture of Ben and I 😍

Then she drew a heart and put the thing she loves the most inside--our family.

A close up of Oliver's hair in that picture, because 😍😂

Parker and Ashtyn were following a tutorial to draw a sloth.
Parker decided to draw the sloth next to the tree instead 😂

Parker's mermaid

Parker's picture of "princess monster of all princesses"

This is Zelda

This is Link. They have loved playing Zelda with Ben recently!

Parker's mermaid with a story around it.
She's taken to writing books recently. This was chapter two of Mermaid Adventures.

Minnie Mouse, by Parker.

This is the back of Minnie Mouse.
She had a cut and was bleeding a lot ...

Santa on his sleigh, by Parker

Their cousins from North Dakota came out to have a baby and we've been in heaven playing with them almost every day.

Ashtyn learned how to make paper fortune tellers and has had a lot of fun with them.

Building a "castle" for Princess Grace

Watching Christmas movies 💓

And all the snuggles when the kids were sick.
I hate that we've been sick so much, but I do love the snuggles.

When Ashtyn wasn't feeling the best, she stayed home from Sunday treat with Dad and made games.
Oliver stayed home too, so he could nap in his crib. Ashtyn was delighted, because it meant she got to feed him with a bottle.

And Oliver talking 😍
