Valentine's Day 2026!

February was a month of being sick for our family and Valentine's Day wasn't the exception unfortunately. The girls were doing pretty well, but Oliver was still pretty sick and I was on the brink of getting it. Despite that, we managed to have a fun Valentine's Day.

The day before Valentine's Day, the kids made Valentine's for each other. This is their favorite tradition and I think it's cute that they want to make one for everyone in the family. Oliver was still lying around with a mild fever, so he didn't do a lot, but luckily he had already made quite a few leading up to Valentine's Day. Before bed, they all set their Valentine's out on the table in each other's spots. Then I left the Valentine from Ben and I along with a box of chocolates and a chocolate rose at each child's spot. Leah got freeze dried yogurt drops, her favorite treat right now.

Valentine's Day was a Satruday this year. The kids woke up and were excited to look at their Valentine's and eat their chocolate. Oliver was doing quite a bit better and was up and about playing and eating his chocolate. Because it was a holiday, I told them they didn't have to do their normal chores.

In the afternoon, Ben went to help work on his sister's house and took the older three to play with cousins. Oliver stayed home with me and played in the tub and watched Scooby Doo. Even though he was doing a lot better, I could tell he was still sick. I was right, he fell asleep while watching his show. While Leah was sleeping, I took the chance to get the house back in order after a week of sick kids.

When the kids got back, we did our family movie night. I made heart shaped pancakes with sausage and bacon for dinner and we watched The Love Bug. It was a simple and fun way to end the holiday together.

Leading up to Valentine's Day, I do 12 days of leaving a heart or other Valentine on the kids' walls at night while they are sleeping. I have a lot of fun making them and the kids love it.

Valentine's Bingo! We didn't do as much as we normally do leading up to Valentine's Day because of everyone being sick, but we still had some fun holiday-themed activities together, before and after.

Valentine's Day was a fun success! I love my family that I've created and am soaking in this time I get with them, especially while the kids are young, through the good and the hard 🩷
