Our OCTOBER Highlights - Halloween Fun!

October was such a fun month for our family! We loved watching Oliver get older while we hung out with family, did fall activities, and celebrated Halloween!

We love snuggles with Oliver 💓

These posts are going to be full of Oliver from now one.
We just can't get enough of his cuteness!

Parker got to do her golden ticket date with Grandma Lindi and Grandpa Danny (their Christmas present each year is a date). They set up a little movie theater in their home and Parker loved it (as evidenced by her facial expressions 😂).

They watched Escape to Witch Mountain and she loved it.

General Conference weekend was really nice. Saturday morning we made scones with honey butter 😋 Then we listened to the talks and did Halloween/Fall activities together.

We really enjoyed spending some time outside in the nice fall weather, before it gets too cold.

Oliver doesn't love being outside yet, but we try to take him out when it's warm enough to help him get sunlight. That can help his rhythms for sleeping at night.

More pictures of Oliver. If he wakes up in the middle of his nap and doesn't settle himself back down, I can sometimes help him finish it by rocking him. I love those sweet moments with him.

I don't think I'll ever get over his curly hair that sticks straight up!

Back when he used to take a binky.
He no longer will, but he does okay without one.

We've graduated from the velcro swaddles, which work well with a newborn, to these bigger ones I got when Ashtyn was a baby. He gets his arm up every once in awhile, but it usually holds him and he sleeps so much better with it.

He doesn't love tummy time, but he does like it okay when it's on Mom's lap.

Oliver with his special binky, swaddled in that swaddle, then wrapped in a weighted sleep sack, on a special mattress that helps him feel held. Oh the lengths we've gone to get him to sleep in his crib!

I just can't help but take a picture when I have to wake him up from his nap.
He's just so cute, especially when he sleeps.

Bath time!
He's starting to like his baths just a little more, though he still hates getting out.

When he does tummy time, he doesn't often try to lift his head yet. He just lays there until he gets tired of it, then he cries.

When he's supposed to sleeping but won't.

Baby stretches are my favorite.

He's also started grinning a whole bunch and it melts my heart every time!

Ben feeding Oliver when Mom was away 💓

More grins!

Ben can't resist taking these pictures either 😍

Near the beginning of the month, we finally got to visit Grandma Leah and she got to meet Oliver. He was so cute, laying on Grandma and snuggling almost the whole time we were there.

And Ashtyn and Ben spent the whole time making a course for the cars to go through.

The very last Smash character was announced in October, so we had Caleb come over and had a little party. Since it was early in the morning, we got donuts and chocolate milk.

I sent a picture to Ben of Oliver sleeping on me when he was struggling with a nap and he sent me back this picture, of Rylee getting into the cheese while I was upstairs 😜

The girls just can't get enough of their brother 💓

Parker's favorite thing to do is lay next to Oliver and talk/sing to him. She loves to play with him too.
She would do it all day long if she could.

Doing yoga
They loved that Oliver could "do the pose" with them 😂

Parker does "baby club time" when she gets blankets for her and Oliver to lay under.

So many loves!

Rylee also got to do her Golden Ticket Date last month! She went and got cheese pizza and ice cream, her two favorite foods.

She had so much fun!

Sisters 💓

During Ashtyn's piano lessons each week, Parker draws.
This week, Parker found a church bug and drew "streets" for it, but then got frustrated because it wouldn't stay on the streets.

A ladybug that Ashtyn found.
She wanted a picture before she let it go.

The first couple days of homeschool, we spent the mornings making Halloween decorations together.
Then we hung them up on the stairs leading up the girls' bedrooms.

Another fun Halloween activity we did at the beginning of the month was painting pumpkins!

The flower was Parker's, the colorful one in the front was Ashtyn's, and the green one in the back was Rylee's.

Butterscotch chip chocolate chip cookies are my favorite treat right now!

Rylee learned to climb out of her crib *sigh*
So she got a big girl bed! She loves it so much!

Along with that came a lack of naps. Some days she still naps, but it's more rare. So then, of course, we end up with nights when she falls asleep on the couch.

Ben dancing with the girls 💓

My mom and brother came out to visit for a few days and the first day, we went to the La Point Corn Maze. They always have really fun activities for the kids.

Ashtyn loves the pony rides!

Parker was really nervous to do the pony rides, but she agreed to do it if I walked next to her. She ended up loving it (and wanting to do it again!). She also was on the radio, as someone was there interviewing the pony ride lady and talked to Parker while on the air.

It was Super Hero and Princess Day when we went, so they had some people dressed up. The girls were especially excited to see Spiderman!

One of the things they had there was a petting zoo area, which was fun.

Rylee kept telling the goat to go away, she did NOT like it following her haha

They also had a train ride!

When the older girls did the Pony ride, Rylee wanted to be in the bounce house, so I took her to the Pony rides later, when she was done with the kid maze but Ashtyn and Parker wanted to stay at the maze.

They had a spot to "milk" a cow and Ashtyn loved it.

It was really fun to go and I'm glad my mom could come. It was fun to have her with us and really helpful for me when one kid wanted to do something different than everyone else!

Jon reading to Rylee. She loves to be read to 💓
Jon also gave piggy back rides and played a word game with Ashtyn, which is now her favorite thing!

Grandpa Danny snuggling Parker 💓
This was on Ashtyn's birthday. Ashtyn had been sick but luckily was feeling better by her birthday. Everyone else (including Oliver :( and me) was feeling sick with colds.

Poor Rylee didn't feel good.

My mom 💓

Another Halloween activity we did was Halloween Bingo. It was a free printable off Pinterest and the girls loved it!
We actually played it when one of their little friends was over and she has asked since then we if we could play it again.

Oliver with his cousin Rhen. They are a month apart, but Rhen is very tall and a lot rounder in his face than Oliver. They look so cute together.

I made chicken pot pie and I was so happy with how the crust turned out! I feel like I have finally figured pie crust out.

Rylee with her vampire teeth. Rylee loves everything Halloween!

Ashtyn set up "school" during our stake conference (we watched through zoom).
She was the teacher. She kept giving Parker "recess".
And Rylee set up her own desk 😂

The girls snuggling Grandpa Danny in one of his camping cots.

Since we couldn't trick-or-treat Grandma Dee and Grandpa Luke, they sent fruit strips and coloring pages. The girls were thrilled!

Another fun activity we did for Halloween was make and decorate sugar cookies!

We had Navy come decorate with us :)

We ended up with so many sugar cookies, we had to try and give some away! Next time, I'd probably do a half batch.

And carving pumpkins! I had them draw what faces they wanted. I used our mixer to loosen the seeds (a trick I saw on Facebook, it worked really well for Parker's small pumpkin, only sort of well with the bigger ones). Then the girls helped me scoop out the insides and I carved them for the girls.

Rylee kept trying to make the same face as her pumpkin 😂
Rylee very adamantly wanted a scary face pumpkin.

Rylee hugging her pumpkin.

Ashtyn really wanted a toothy grin pumpkin and was proud to scoop all the insides out by herself.

The Thursday before Halloween, our library had a little trick-or-treat activity. Ashtyn had a bad cold/cough and was too sick to come (I took her bag for her) but Parker and Rylee had a lot of fun.

The theme was Harry Potter and it went through the library, the city museum, and the vernal city offices. The decorations and everything were super cute and fun. They had a magician there and Parker got so excited every time he did a trick, it was so fun watching her reactions. I love our library.

While I took the girls trick-or-treating on Halloween, Ben stayed home with Oliver and gave out candy.

We did a My Little Pony theme (because the girls love it right now), so Oliver was Spike the dragon. Melissa made the adorable costume for him.

Rylee was Princess Twilight Sparkle. She corrected you if you tried to leave off the princess part.
She was adamant from the very first time I introduced this costume idea that this was who she wanted to be.

Parker was Princess Celestia. This is not as popular of a costume, so we found a unicorn costume that she thought looked like Princess Celestia and then added a white shirt and skirt to it. Her favorite part of her costume was the wings.

Ashtyn was Rainbow Dash and she wanted to pose in a way that would she people she was dashing (dashing to the side and dashing up). It was too itchy, so she decided to wear the white shirt under it.

Sisters!

The My Little Pony crew!

The night before Halloween, our ward did a barbecue and trunk or treat in the church parking lot. It got a little chilly by the end of it, but it was so much fun!

I didn't end up getting a picture of Parker because she never sat still. She was just running all over the place :)

Oliver did really well. He fell asleep in his carseat not long after we got there, slept until after the dinner was done, and then stayed in the car (happy, just watching what was going on) with Dad to hand out candy while I took the girls around to the different cars.

On Halloween, we had some cousins and friends over for dinner and trick-or-treating. We did (pumpkin shaped) pizza, taco soup, pumpkin muffins, and leftover salad.

The trick-or-treating crew!

Parker and Hadley became fast friends!

Oliver will never lack attention in our house 😂

At the end of the night, we stopped by Grandma Leah's house to trick-or-treat before putting the girls to bed and watching Lost in Space while we went through their candy. They got so much. We ended up putting a lot of it out for trick-or-treaters on Sunday night to get rid of some of it.

October was a really fun month! I love fall and the start of the holidays. October through December are such wonderful months and they are so fun with kids. We had a blast on Halloween and doing all the holiday themed activities!
